PEER INITIATIVE IGNITION PROGRAM
The Peer Initiative IGNITION Program is a unique opportunity for Peer Leaders and Changemakers to build Peer Initiatives that will improve mental health and wellbeing. Armed with an idea for a Peer-Run Project or Business, IGNITION assists Peer Leaders to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to make that idea a reality.
IGNITION is an eight-month program with a limited number of participants to ensure maximum personal focus. There are four key learning components, which are outlined below.
Each participant works with a certified and experienced leadership coach to explore their entrepreneurial talents. Participants are supported by a coach through an assessment debrief, which includes a personal report outlining their results.
COACHING OR MENTORING
An extraordinary opportunity to choose between five sessions with an experienced coach or mentor to focus on developing their personal leadership skills and implementing their initiative.
Presentations on key topics, from legal and budgeting tips to grant writing, marketing and public speaking. Accompanied by interactive, action-oriented activities that help leaders apply the skills and knowledge gained in their initiatives.
Six half-day Saturdays for practical application workshops, where participants get hands-on assistance to prepare their Project or Business Plan.
How is the program structured?
Participants in the program have a number of face-to-face hours, in addition to preparing a Project Plan and Project Funding Proposal in their own time. An example outline of a schedule for the program is below.
How much does the program cost?
The development program is valued at $6400, plus participants were able to apply for an amount of seed funding for their initiative.
The 2015/16 program was fully funded by the Australian Government through the Inner West Sydney Partners in Recovery Innovative Grant Program and its lead agency, New Horizons. As a result of this funding, we were able to offer this program free for participants.
